The US-based Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) and four important trade associations are joining together to promote remanufacturing as a key to a greener world. The new alliance is seen as a significant step in the continuing progress of remanufacturing.

Representing different sectors of the remanufacturing industry, The Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA), the International Imaging Technology Council (I-ITC ), the Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League (PEARL), and the Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) joins RIC in an agreement to serve the strategic needs of the remanufacturing industry. The aim is to strengthen the news, information and strategic advancement of the industry at a time when the research and development side of the industry is receiving increased support, and remanufacturing is being officially recognized as a key industry by governments and authorities world-wide.

Dr. Nabil Nasr, Director of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at Rochester Institute of Technology, CEO of the REMADE Institute and co-founder of RIC, is the driving force behind this latest initiative in remanufacturing.

“We have seen a lot of progress in remanufacturing over the years, but I believe we are about to embark on the most dynamic and exciting time in remanufacturing history,”  Nasr told Reman World.

The parties signed memos of understanding following January’s announcement of another breakthrough for remanufacturing, the establishment of the US $140 million private-public REMADE Institute to be headquartered in Rochester, New York.

Joe Kripli, President of APRA, calls the remanufacturing alliance another major step in APRA’s 75 year history. “Our members will benefit from the collaborative efforts between all of these associations,” he added, “and we look forward to working more closely with the RIC to support initiatives impacting all of remanufacturing.”

Reman World, the automotive reman industry’s new magazine and information hub, will be a media partner at RIC’s international remanufacturing conference in Rochester June 21-23, when the new alliance will be presented to the world’s remanufacturing industries.
