Remanufacturing is on the rise like never before as an officially recognized key industry of a greener future. In January, the U.S. government announced the game changing establishment of a public-private partnership in the $140 million REMADE Institute to research and develop remanufacturing. Within weeks, two further developments were designed to capitalize nationally and globally on this boost in momentum. A set of specifications for the process of remanufacturing, developed and issued by the U.S. based Remanufacturing Industries Council, RIC, received ANSI approval as an official American National Standard. And RIC joined forces with leading industry associations, representing four sectors of the remanufacturing industry. They agreed to work together on promoting and building awareness of the importance of remanufacturing for people’s pocketbooks and the planet.
